Huge News!!

Some of you might remember the post I made here, about working in the quilt industry! Well I've taken the plunge, gave my two week notice at my job yesterday and plan to be opening a shop of my own in the fall. It's a huge step, and I'm crazy excited, nervous, freaked out and scared all rolled into one!

It will start small, but I hope it will grow and become a gathering place for so many others who love this craft as much as I do.

Today, I'm struggling with a name. I thought I had that all covered but because of what the province charges to do a name search, I really need to have one in mind that isn't similar to anything else in the province before I submit one. So, any suggestions would be welcome!

I'll keep you posted with more details as things come together!

  1. Oh, Darlene, that is wonderful news. Then, next year when we take our little trip to do some fabric shopping, we can come to your shop and finally meet you!! I know you'll come up with the perfect name. While the 4 of us are together this week, we'll do some brainstorming for you! ~karen

  13. How exciting! Best of luck in your new journey! As for a name, you could stick with what your followers know...Quilts By Darlene? You could make a slight change and call it Quilts by Darlene and Friends. Is there some landscape that is beautiful around where you live? Something like Redrock Quilting, or Evergreen Quilting, Mountainside Quilting, etc. maybe that will give you an idea. Good Luck!!

  14. Fantastic news Darlene!!! You are in for a whole new world of adventures in quilting!!! Congrats... so happy for you! I wish I lived closer... I would love to work in your shop! As for a name... put the word "quilting" in the title... it immediately lets potential customers know what your shop is all about!

  16. Wonderful! I'm so excited for you!! And I agree with everyone that you should have quilts in the name somewhere. Other than that - ooh. Have fun picking a name. Joy!

  18. Oh Darlene, I am so excited for you. That is wonderful news. I have been wondering what you had decided about going into the business and I am very pleased that you decided to take the plunge. I wish I could visit your shop but Australia is a bit far to pop in for a fat quarter. Maybe when I am a world renown designer I can come over and teach in your shop. That would be fun. I don't think it is going to happen any time soon though. What about 'Quilts in the Attic' or 'Darlene's Quilts' or 'Mad about Quilting'? Vicki vickilorraine at hotmail dot com. Good luck!!!
