A day all for us! So of course, what else would I have done today but quilt! lol It was a beautiful day here today, I had planned to get a walk in, but got so caught up in the sewing that I missed that chance! I've been cutting and sewing the last of the strips for my scrappy Trip Around The World Blocks.
I need 64 blocks, and as of today, I have 40 all done. So another 24 to go. I have all of the strips sewn for those 24, and hopefully tomorrow, I'll get them pressed and counter cut. Then later this week, hopefully I can say they're all done!
My mom is going to hand quilt this one, and she's waiting patiently to get it in her frames!
And now to finish the day off, a little movie time with my hubby and some hexie sewing! Happy International Quilter's Day to you all!
I'm a quilter, love everything about this great craft. I've been quilting since I was just a little girl, blessed to have both of my grandmothers influence and teaching to start me on my way. The first quilt that I remember working on was a Grandmother's Flower Garden. My maternal grandmother, Fanny, helped me get started, I was around 7 or 8 years old. I still have that work, never did finish the quilt though. My maternal grandmother, Dot, often had a quilt in the frame when I was a little girl. I spent many wonderful hours playing under that quilt frame, in my world of imagination. And I was so blessed as I grew a bit older to have her teach me the fine art of hand quilting. Today, I still love hand work, but also love the convenience of today's modern techniques.
I have been blessed beyond measure this past year to be able to open my own quilt shop, I've been dreaming of this for 20 years and finally decided now was the time to stop dreaming and start doing! I hope you'll follow along with me on the journey!
