I'm trying to finish up some older projects that have been sitting in the sewing room for...mmm let's just say too long! This one is up next. I've been working on it for years. My daughter is 23 years old now and I know for sure I was working on it at her junior high basketball games that would have been at least 8 years ago. Shameful, I know! But at least I'm gonna try for a finish now!

I have all of the hexies done and sewn together and now I have to decide what to do about borders. I want this to fit a queen size bed. At this point, I'm planning to put an appliqu├ęd border and then a scalloped piano key border. But things may change as I go along. We'll see. That's a ways off just yet. I have to finish the star quilt that I posted earlier, and then I'll be all set to tackle this one!

Calling Canadian Bloggers!

Apparently there is going to be a Canadian Blogathon coming up in November. It sounds like lots of fun, if you're living in Canada and have a blog that is mostly quilt related you are eligible to be a part of it if you'd like. Just follow the link in my sidebar to sign up and get in on the fun!

A post today about our little beagle, Peanut. Peanut has a thing for ladders. If there's a ladder in place, she'll climb it! Today, Hubby was cleaning the windows outside ( I know, I'm spoiled, I don't do ladders) isn't he great!! Anyway, he no more than had the ladder in place but Peanut was up there thinking she was getting a trip to the roof!

It all started about a year and a half ago. We had a lot of snow on the roof, enough that hubby was concerned that it was too heavy, so he put the ladder in place and went up to shovel some of it off. So he was up there working away, heard a noise behind him and looked to see Peanut on her way up the ladder! And she's really comfortable up there too, she checks things out from all angles. She goes up the ladder but jumps down, from the upper roof to the wood house roof, then down to the deck. She goes to the edge, contemplates then just jumps down. lol And we had lots of snow to cushion her if need be but she's never had a problem.

We had a chimney fire that year too, had to have the fire department here. Hubby had put the ladder in place and had things under control by the time they got here, but they went up anyway to inspect and were shocked to see Peanut up there doing her own inspection! LOL Peanut the Wonder Dog!

A good day!

My day off today, and what better way to spend it than sewing. I got these stars all sewn together and now to decide on borders. I'm loving how it's turned out, I first saw this quilt in the Quilt Sampler magazine a few years ago when the Temecula Quilt Shop was featured and fell in love with it. I didn't have a pattern, and have no idea how big their stars were but knew roughly the size I wanted mine to be. So earlier this fall I decided this project would get started while away sewing for a couple of days with friends. And today, I finally finished putting it together.

And now to get my house cleaned up a bit and then off for supper with my quilting friends to makes plans for an upcoming guild event.

It's definitely been my kind of day!

A better picture!

It seems that every time I've wanted to share a picture of my row along quilt with you, it's been after daylight hours and the pictures were the pits. So I got home from work early today, took my strips out onto the back deck and got a much better picture. The colours look much more realistic. Where do you take your pictures?

Merrily We Row Along...

LOL, Yeah well ok I know it's lame but I'm really enjoying this quilt! This little Row Along quilt that's a freebie over at  Bee in My Bonnet!

This apple row is the latest, I think it's my favourite so far! I haven't got the end pieces on yet, gotta get to that. Can't wait to see what's next!

And I haven't added the plain divider rows yet either, as I'm afraid I'm gonna run out of background fabric. I just kinda went with what I had and now wondering if I should have gone and bought new before I started. So .... may have to go with a different colour there, but we'll wait and see!

A Finish!

Finished my little pumpkin quilt on the weekend. And I love it! It's not a great picture but I didn't have time to try again! And it's even on the wall already! It's gotta be a record!

Now to decide on a new one to replace this one in a few weeks! I've made 100s of quilts over the years, but they've all been sold or gifted other than one on my bed and one other little wall hanging that hangs by my back door. So I'm on a mission! I want to fill my home with quilts! I love seeing all of the decorating with quilts posted on other blogs and I've wished to do the same for myself for years but just haven't taken the time. Well, hopefully I'm gonna change that! Any suggestions for a November quilt? Remember I'm in Canada and we celebrated Thanksgiving earlier in October.

If only...

Oh my yes, if only I lived close enough! That would make for quite a weekend for myself and my quilting buddies! But oh well, we can dream. And if we can't be there in person, then we might as well try to win some of the goodies. And a free e-pattern sounds good to me! Run on over there to Buttermilk Basin blog and to My Yellow Farmhouse blog to get in on the fun! I love both of these blogs, they have the most amazing quilts to share! You won't be disappointed!

From my blocks that I showed you in my previous post. I love seeing them all together in a little heap! Crazy I know, but they make me feel so productive!

I remember seeing pictures a few years ago in a quilt book of thousands of these saved in an old fashioned mason jar. I loved them. But I've never saved any of my own. Not much point in saving them, but they sure looked nice in those jars!

Sewing Today!

So thankful to have today off and to be able to spend it sewing! I've been working on this quilt that I started a couple of weeks ago when I was away at retreat. When I figured at the camp, I thought I would need 99 blocks but since then have found a slightly different setting that only needs 80 blocks. So, only about 10 more to go and I can start setting it together. Will hopefully have all the blocks finished today!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! I hope that you can take a few minutes today to reflect on what you're thankful for. I have a long list! My faith, my family, my friends, my job, my hobby, another year cancer free, the freedom to live in a beautiful country and the list goes on and on!

We drove through the beautiful Annapolis valley yesterday and the fall colours are lovely! Not at their full glory yet as we haven't had a lot of frost here. I can't believe how many leaves have fallen in our front yard already. We haven't had a lot of wind, but we've had such a dry summer that the least little breeze is shaking them loose!

I also wanted to take a minute to show you my new toy! Our drive through the valley yesterday took us to It's Sew Time in Elmsdale and I came home with this! It's a Pfaff Ambition Essential. It's been around 18 years since I bought a new one and this is the first time for a Pfaff. I've heard lots of good things about them and am really looking forward to seeing for myself. So needless to say, my holiday tomorrow is gonna be spent doing you know what!!
