Slow Sunday Stitching

Over the past couple of Sundays, I've come across a couple of blogs that are doing the Slow Sunday Stitching. I love that idea! What a great day to relax and just sit and stitch. So after church this morning and then lunch with the family I got started with a little hand stitching. My little pumpkin quilt needed just one more step before quilting, so I got that done today. I added the little embroidered tendril that you see here and now I'll move on to my Over the River stitchery! You can check out Kindred Quilts post and Kathy's Quilts post about their slow stitching day too!

Hope you're all able to enjoy some slow stitching on this rainy fall Sunday!!

Finished the Applique!

Okay, I've decided that I really love wool appliqué on cotton! I love how fast it goes, how neat and tidy it is while you're working on it. Kaaren gave me some tips before I got started. One being, that she uses Steam-a-Seam2 and I have to agree it worked really great. Thank you Kaaren. Now to get some little blocks made to border it and get it quilted. I'm also gonna add a little embroidered tendril coming from the pumpkin stem. While I sit with hubby in the evening watching TV, stitching, I like to ask his opinion on my designs and stitching. On this one, his comment was, the pumpkin isn't all that round. And that's been plaguing me a bit now as I finished the stitching. Maybe it isn't round enough, but no pumpkin is perfectly round! What do you think?

The purpose of this project was to step up my fall decorating a little bit. I've picked up a couple of things that I saw in town that I liked. I also need to pick up a plant for outside on the veranda. Hopefully will get to that over the weekend.

I'm so excited for this day to be over! When I leave my job today, I'm heading to a friend's cottage for three nights of sewing, laughing, quilting, laughing, eating and did I mention laughing!! LOL I can't wait! It's become an annual tradition for us and the days leading up to it seem to be the slowest days of the year!! Hopefully today goes by in a flash, I work at a bank and it's the first day of senior cheques today, so that will speed things along quite nicely!! I'm pretty much all packed and ready to go, just a few last minute things left to put in the car. I've several projects packed to work on, the one pictured here, the next row in the Row Along project, the Over The River stitching, and I'm gonna start a new quilt. It's a 6" morning store block, set on point with a plain block. I've been wanting to do this one ever since the Quilt Sampler that featured Temecula Quilt shop came out! That was my favourite issue ever and if I could choose one store that was featured over the years to visit, that would be the one. A similar quilt is featured in that, 3" blocks rather than 6", but with a big queen size quilt, I figured I could pull it off with the larger block. Soooo, I'll keep you posted on that one!

When I get home on Saturday, I hopefully will have more pictures to share with you of all of the projects that we work on while we're at the cottage. Until then, happy quilting!

A little peak!

I've been drooling over all of the beautiful fall decorating I've been seeing in blogland this week. I decided I needed to step my own up a bit, fall has been pretty boring here over the past couple of years. So I started a new quilt, for me (Yay!) and I'm gonna pick up a few little other little things that I saw in town this week. Thought I would give you a little peak of the quilt!

It's wool appliqué on cotton. I did a couple of wool appliqué projects earlier this year but they are unfinished at this point. I got some tips for this one from Kaaren, who in my opinion is a wool appliqué expert extraordinaire, and I'm really loving how its coming together. I'll show you the finished project soon I hope!

Row Along progress and a few new goodies!

A friend went on a shopping trip last week, into the US and to one of my favourite shops in New Brunswick. I asked her to pick up some goodies for me. My first pearl cotton! Can't wait to start a wool appliqué project! She also brought me this awesome shopping bag from Joanne's! Love those things, but mostly for carting around my sewing goodies!

Lovin' the new Kim Diehl book! Wouldn't it be awesome to live near enough to have a visit with her?

And I also wanted to show you that I'm ready for Row 3 in the Row Along happening at Bee in My Bonnet! Can't wait to see what it's gonna be!

Happy Wednesday!

At the Garden Path

I thought I would share a few more of the pictures of my quilts at the Garden Path.

When I decided to go online with my quilts, I thought pictures of the quilts in an outdoor setting would be so nice and the Garden Path is the perfect place for any kind of outdoor pictures.

The garden is owned by my good friends, Gary and Arla Marshall and they have really outdone themselves with this beautiful haven.

If you happen to be in the area, try hard to make it out here for a stroll. You will be thrilled!

To Market, To Market

Finally made it the farmer's market this morning in beautiful Annapolis Royal. I usually get there several times over the summer, but this was my first trip for the season and likely the last, as the next few weekends are already busy! It's been an exceptionally busy summer for us, which is another reason that I'm soooo looking forward to fall. I'm ready for a much slower pace!

The market was as busy as ever, there was some really great live music, could have stood there much longer listening to the gentleman play and sing. I bought some pretty tiny tomatoes, a jar of Carrot Cake jam, can't wait to give that a go, (the lady suggested on a bagel with cream cheese) and some lovely silver earrings. Oh my yes, should be yummy! And of course, I had my favourite, potato pancake and sausage for lunch. It was a great morning.

We also stopped at the Lequille Country Store, love that place too! Had a yummy frozen yogurt!

On the way home, we stopped at a friends house, she's been in the US shopping this week and she picked up some goodies for me. So this afternoon I'll be flipping through my new Kim Diehl book (woohoo) and planning for another project! LOL Oh dear, I need more hours in the day!

Hope you're all having a great Saturday!

Over The River.....

...and through the woods! This is the pattern that I started last week. An embroidery and patchwork project by Crabapple Hill Studio. I've had this one in my basket for almost a year and was finally inspired to get it started. Crabapple did theirs in black but I chose my favourite, red for mine! I've not started the patchwork yet, but hopefully over the next few weeks I'll get a chance.

And I started another new project this week! I'll share some pictures from that with you next time! Thanks for stopping by today!

I had lunch yesterday with my new quilting friend Kaaren. The internet is a wonderful thing! I came across Kaaren's blog while visiting another quilt blog and from some of Kaaren's pictures, I realized that she was living fairly nearby. So, I made contact, and I'm happy to say that we've been able to have a couple of visits. And lucky me, Kaaren is a fabulous quilter. I've been just blown away by her beautiful hand work. And I was so happy to invite her to our guild and was even happier when she showed up. This month she brought a couple of items for show and tell and she totally wowed the group with this beauty! I've seen this one online before, but to see it in person is amazing! And the picture in no way can do it justice. Kaaren was working on an embroidery project at the guild last week and that inspired me to get out a pattern that I bought last year and get it started. I'll post pictures of it in the next few days! Thanks Kaaren for sharing with me!

Something New!

A couple of new quilts to add to the site and one that was done for an order! It's always such an awesome feeling to finish a quilt but it's even better now, knowing that I'll get to share them here.

My mom and hubby and I made a trip out to the local picnic park to get these shots. I love the colours in this one, rich primary colours.

Log cabins have always been my favourite quilts to make. I love everything about them. This one was an order, I love finishing them up and just wanted to share it with you.
